decorating help (windows)?

i’m decorating my house for the 1st time. i’m going for a japanese/minimalistic look throughout the house. can anyone give me some ideas of what i should put on my windows?

this is what i have so far in my living room:
black leather sofa & chair
black lamps with cream shades
all dark wood furniture/tables (world market style)
lucky bamboo in a tall glass vase (filled with black pebbles
currently the windows have white wooden blinds on them. i can’t decide the color/style, but i like brown/blue as i have decorated my bedroom in white and brown with accents of blue. there is also a patio window that needs to be covered.

Color scheme for my new house…?

I recently purchased a house and I’m planning on painting the interiors very soon. It’s brand new so right now is all white. My furniture has earth colors, beige sofas with wood feet, wood color blinds, dark wood furniture pieces and some black wall frames. My dining set is back & wood colors. The kitchen and dining area are open to the living room. Still, I’d like to use more than one color. I was thinking some avocado green for a couple accent walls in the living room, a mustard yellow kitchen (white cabinets, wood floors) and the rest of the house and bedrooms in a neutral or tan color. Except the bathrooms which I haven’t decided yet. Does this sound too crazy? I don’t want it to look like a clowns house, but at the same time the colors seem to go well together. Would this create the "neutral" feeling I’m looking for?
Thanks for your suggesitons!
Exactly! I was thinking blue or even lavender for the master bathroom, it has white cabinets as well…
I can’t live in my house thinking about the day " I sell it", I eventually will someday but I’m planning in enjoying it to the max while I’m here.

I’m having a decorating crisis. My living room has cream/off-white walls (can’t change them its an apartment), and these kind of dark, forest green couches (inhereted them & can’t afford new ones; can’t slipcover them they’re recliners). Decided to do the living room in sort of an exotic tropical theme to justify all that green. For example we have a little tropical houseplant in one corner, little wooden tribal figurine, (also wood endtables) etc.

What I can’t figure out is what to do for curtains. The walls are too light to pull off white, brown makes the room too dark, the beige we looked at was too blah, and there is already too much green in the room to consider it on the curtains. I’m thinking of getting roman shades in a cypress or bamboo material, but would that look stupid over the venitian blinds that the apartment came with? I want to let a lot of light in and still have privacy (in the other rooms we pull the curtains back but leave the blinds down). Help!! Thanks!
